2-6-2012

We tapped over the weekend and gathered sap from the first sap run of the season.  Tap count so far is 312.  We plan to add more taps on buckets this weekend.  We'll gather sap tomorrow and have our first boil of the season tomorrow evening.

2-7-2012

We gathered the sap that was collected yesterday and today and boiled for 4 hours to sweeten the pans.  The weather looks good for sap flow later this week.

We put out 17 buckets this aftenoon, bringing the total tap count to 329.  The sap started to run late today.  We'll collect sap tomorrow and boil on Saturday until the sap is gone.

We boiled off the sap run from Thursday and Friday, and made our first batch of syrup from the 2012 season.  It is a great tasting light amber.  We had a few visitors stop by to see our process and taste some fresh syrup drawn right from the evaporator.  Thanks to all who stopped by to visit.
